TECHNOLOGY

Reed and Bel Aire

At Bel Aire, students begin their formalized instruction in technology under the leadership of Lori Mustille. This is Lori’s second year teaching students of the Reed Union School District. As the technology teacher, Lori believes that Internet can be a fabulous learning tool and should be integrated into all aspects of a child’s education. However, she believes a guided path is the best approach for elementary school children and therefore recommends a few Internet safety web sites that are great to use with younger children. For a list of all Ms. Mustille’s Good Web sites for Parents and Kids, visit the technology website.

Del Mar

At Del Mar, Technology continues under the leadership of Jeff Brain. As Technology Facilitator Jeff specializes in teacher training and professional development, creatively assisting and guiding teachers and students as they fully integrate technology into the content rich curriculum as part of the one-to-one Millennial Project.

In addition to working directly with staff as a collaborator and co-teacher, Jeff also teaches the 6th grade Multimedia class. In this class, students are exposed to applications and peripherals that combine audio, video, text and images into a collage of projects that support student work across a wide array of subject matter. Programs such as Kar2ouche, iMovie, and Garage Band are a sampling of what is used for projects that include, storyboarding, stop-motion animation, and thematic aural accompaniment in language arts and social studies.

Feel free to drop by the freshly redesigned multimedia collaborative area adjacent to the library and get an in-depth look at the tremendous work being done by Del Mar students and teachers.
